The Blue and The Red

Roses are not blue, and their blood is not red,
but those are the colors of the hair on their heads.

It was late afternoon, and the parents were gone.
The house was quiet, but it wouldn’t be for long.

Soon with a rattle, bang, and yell,
it was obvious to Blue, that Red had fell.

Blue hurried down the corridor, and down the stairs.
When she entered the living room, there was no one there.

Then there was a whimper, and the cry from before.
When Blue look around, she found Red on the floor.

A sigh left her lips and with the roll of her eyes,
she picked her sister up and wiped her tears goodbye.

The truth was, Blue hated her sister Red.
To Her, she was a mistake she’d thought rather be dead.

But now was a time to put hatred aside.
Seeing Red sad like this, secretly hurt her inside.

Kissing her head and rubbing Reds back,
Blue thought it best,  if Red took her nap.

Red wailed and cried when put in her crib.
Blue finally gave in to her heart in her ribs.

Picking her up out of her bed,
Blue went to the her room and layed down with Red.

The toddler slept safely with her sister close by.
Blue’s eyes closed too, needing to stay awake, but too tired to try.

The day came to an end, and now it was night.
Then the door opened, filling the room with light.

The parent’s peered in, seeing the scene.
How cute it was; the toddler sleeping with the teen.

When they ask Blue at breakfast, she wouldn’t admit,
That she cared for her sister, she told them to “Forget about it”.
